Arise: Daily Prayer Journal
Last Updated: 2026-03-04
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how MT Studio ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Arise: Daily Prayer Journal app ("the App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage and is never transmitted to our servers:
- Quiz answers and preferences (prayer focus, preferred session length, denomination)
- Daily session history (completed days, streaks)
- App settings (reminder preferences, theme, display name)
- Subscription and trial status
- Prayer progress and journey data
Daily emotional and spiritual check-in scores — used solely to suggest relevant content and next programs within the App. This data never leaves your device.
2.2 Anonymous Authentication
We use Firebase Anonymous Authentication to generate a random anonymous identifier. This identifier:
- Contains no personal information
- Is used solely to associate community prayer requests with a device
- Cannot be used to identify you personally
2.3 Community Prayer Requests
If you choose to submit prayer requests to the community feature, the following is stored on Firebase Firestore:
- Prayer request category and text (if provided)
- Urgency level
- Anonymous identifier
- Timestamp
- Prayer and support counts
Prayer requests may be submitted anonymously. We do not require or store your real name, email, or any personally identifiable information in connection with prayer requests.
2.4 Crash Reporting and Analytics
We use Sentry for crash reporting. When the App encounters an error in production, Sentry may collect:
- Error type and stack trace
- Device type and operating system version
- App version
This data is used solely to identify and fix bugs. It does not include personal information.
2.5 Journal Entries
Journal entries you write within the App are stored exclusively on your device using AsyncStorage. They are:
- Never transmitted to our servers
- Never shared with third parties
- Never used for advertising or profiling purposes
- Never analyzed by external services or AI tools
Journal entries are permanently deleted when you uninstall the App.
2.6 Subscription Data
Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) and managed through RevenueCat. We do not have access to your payment information, credit card details, or billing address. RevenueCat provides us with:
- Subscription status (active/expired)
- Entitlement access
- Anonymous customer identifier
For RevenueCat's privacy practices, see: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
We want to be clear about what we do not collect:
- Real name (unless you voluntarily set a display name, stored only on your device)
- Email address
- Phone number
- Location data
- Contacts
- Photos or media
- Browsing history
- Advertising identifiers
- Journal entry content (stored locally on your device only, never transmitted)
- Emotional or spiritual check-in scores (stored locally on your device only, never transmitted)
4. How We Use Information
We use the limited information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the App's functionality
- Enable community prayer request features
- Diagnose and fix technical issues (crash reporting)
- Manage subscription access
- Suggest a relevant next program at the end of your 30-day plan, based solely on which track you completed. This recommendation logic runs entirely on-device. No personal data, journal entries, or check-in scores are sent to our servers or analyzed externally for this purpose.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with the following service providers, strictly for App functionality:
| Service | Purpose | Data Shared |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase (Google) | Anonymous auth, community features | Anonymous ID, prayer requests |
| Sentry | Crash reporting | Error data, device info |
| RevenueCat | Subscription management | Anonymous customer ID, subscription status |
| Apple / Google | Payment processing | Handled entirely by platform |
6. Data Retention
- Local data (including journal entries and check-in scores) remains on your device until you delete the App or clear App data
- Community prayer requests are retained on Firebase until removed by moderation or system cleanup
- Crash reports are retained by Sentry for 30 days
- Subscription records are retained by RevenueCat per their retention policy
7. Data Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data:
- All network communications use HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Firebase security rules restrict data access
- Anonymous authentication ensures no personal credentials are stored
- Local data is sandboxed within the App on your device
- Sensitive data (journal entries, check-in scores) never leaves your device
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided data through the App, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
